What are we doing here?

My name's Rachel and I am your friendly, local, neighbourhood nerd.

 

As a child, and throughout my teenage years, I have been dragged up by my wonderful parents and peers on a solid diet of Jim Henson, The Goons, varying cartoons and franchises, and a shed load of sci-fi, fantasy, and musical theatre.

In my college days, while studying screenwriting and film, I was absolutely addicted to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and so grew my appetite for attending meet and greets with many of the actors involved in the show and follow on projects. Anthony Head became my absolute favourite person to meet and at one point called me his friendly stalker - I was after all a frequent flyer to his signing events.

I took a break from attending conventions for a while and began working at various music festivals, combining this with writing a blog and various focus pieces on artists that I had met along the way. My love for  nerdery and geekdom didn't really leave me though and so, when a friend invited me to attend Wales Comic Con in 2018, I jumped at the chance to go and meet a childhood hero or five. I have been attending various events ever since and have made some glorious pals along the way, both famous and infamous.

 

Around a year ago I began dating a Star Wars nerd of my very own and we begun formulating an idea of what my calling could be in the grand scheme of it all. From there the idea of Nostalgia Night Events was born. My aim is to provide attendees with access to go see films that they have loved for many years and to have a chance to meet the magic makers behind and on the screen. As someone who has often dealt with social anxiety at larger events this gives you the opportunity to feel like you're watching the film with someone involved in the production, all from the comfort of a cinema/living room environment, and to give an authentic interaction experience with our guests.

P.s. Despite what the picture may allude to, I am not in fact dating Ross Marquand. A nerdy girl can dream though. His beard is simply magnificent.
